Ride to Mammoth in Late September

Hiking from Red's Meadow at Mammoth to Yosemite Valley with five others in late September. Starting on a Thursday and looking on ideas on how to get from the Valley to Mammoth on Wednesday. YURT only runs on weekends at this time of year. We live in Bay area and will have a car at the end, but looking for a way to avoid leaving a car at Mammoth too. Any suggestions?
