Rules About Building Man-Made Structures

Hi,

Are there rules/laws about building man-made structures in Yosemite backcountry? Nothing large, more like sleeping shelters and the like.

Thanks,

LK

From Yosemite's web site: "Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches."

Thanks for the info.

I do make a group kitchen/trench in snow sometimes and fill it back with snow on the way out. I am assuming that Lowell is not talking about snow caves or trenches etc.

I was thinking of simple sleeping shelters and wooden fire reflectors, things that would be taken down upon leaving in a "leave no trace" manner.

Reading "The Last Season" about SEKI ranger Randy Morgenson, it sounded like breaking down man-made structures was a not-too-fun part of the job...

Thanks, I appreciate the link. I wish there was a way to do this responsibly, but I get the reasons why it is not allowed.
