I was under impression that "Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion" forum was actually about Backpacking and Hiking in Yosemites. So the difference between these two forums was not clear for me.

The idea is that "News and... " is NEWS (and other politicial blah blah)... and this is about
"Hiking and Backpacking" ...
The idea is also that the casual observer would be more inclined to post due to a
more pointed topic.
I'll leave it at that.
