Interesting shadow (of your wife?) on the third pic. Looks like two people hiking. Thanks for posting.

Regarding the fish shot, that's definitely not a Rainbow or a Brown. Looks like what we used to call a "Sucker" to me. Any you fishermen have some input on this?

Looks almost like a rainbow - golden hybrid.

I think it's a Brook trout. You can tell by the little squiggly lines (vermiculations?) on it's back.

Looking closer, I think you are right. Too bad we can't see the fins because that would definitely tell us if it is a brookie or not.

Be patient. It's not the right time of year for this to take off.

I think it's just the wrong time of year for backpacking & hiking trip reports, etc. Many of use are too wimpy to deal with the cold this time of year. I like the idea of having a forum just for backpacking and hiking, and like including the whole Sierra.

Here are a few photos for my backpacking trip to Mt Whitney via the Cottonwood Lakes in September. This forum didn't exist in September, so I posted a shorter version under "General Discussion"

Cottonwood Lakes from New Army Pass

A friend from Florida and I spent six days hiking from Horseshoe Meadow to Mt. Whitney then down to Whitney Portal. A good time was had by all, However the drop form trail camp 3500 ft. to the portal was really hard on the knees

It was a relaxed trip

And we did encounter snow on night four at Upper Crabtree Meadow

We made it to the top of Whitney

A good trip was had by all
