tips for making campground reservations?

and now for something completely different . . .

I haven't done camping at one of the Pines campgrounds in the valley for years. I've been doing backpacking or Camp 4 for years.

So . . . I haven't gone through the current reservation system before.

But this year I want to give it a try and invite family or friends along ( I shouldn't have trouble finding someone interested )

What are some of the tricks to increase my odds of getting a reservation?

I'm in the same boat qumqats. I've got the wilderness permit system down, but woud love any and all advice I can get on making reservations for camping. It sounds like it can be difficult! I will be at the computer on the morning of the 15th with my fingers crossed. I'm actually hoping to make (2) reservations, one for myself and one for my parents, so I know the odds are stacked against me. Thanks.
