Re: Old Lookout Point on Panorama Trail

Did a loop up 4-mile to JMT/Mist Trail back to Swinging Bridge on Saturday. Aside from the few miles in the Valley (not that there's anything wrong with the Valley), it was a great hike. At any rate, there's an old lookout point off the Panorama Trail above and east of the bridge over Illouette. Portions of the old pipe railing are still visible protruding from the rock. Anyone know what this point is called?

That's the dead giveaway, it's Panorama Point. Also described here.

I've been to Panaroma Point twice (and taken a few pictures, including the "6224" benchmark, that confirm it really was Panorama Point) but I don't remember ever noticing any part of the old railings or holes. Can someone tell me where to look for them?

If you saw the benchmark you were close to stepping on the old railing holes.
Try again.... you won't miss them next time.
