Re: Bernice Lake in "Winta"

Had fun hiking to Bernice with Z Boss... had sorta a plan two years ago to get here...
but instead we went to Emeric then... due to the utter lack of winter... figured this would
be the opportunity to hit it and Vogelsang Pass in "winter"... with snow levels so darn high...
and nearly zero danger ... what the heck...

"Do you want to take my shortcut to Bernice? It's not as steep as the trail"



"Well... if we just go straight this way... hehehe"

From there we headed back and had lunch at Emeric before going down past Merced Lake etc.

We put our snowshoes on at about 8800 ft. heading up Lewis Creek to Bernice.
We took them off on our way back down Fletcher Creek at the Bobcock Lake Junction
at about 9000 ft.

It was actually pretty nice snowshoe conditions. There were some bare spots here and
there which is ridiculous for now...

O... I thought I'd mention that we did head over to Gallison dayhiking... and my wife asked where the lake was exactly...
at which point I told her that she just hiked over it...

She said "you have been telling me to stop walking on Bernice ... and then you
walk right across Gallison!?"
She kept unknowingly walk out onto Bernice when we first got there and I
kept telling her to please not do that. After investigating more I was pretty certain
it was 100% safe as long as stay away from outlet and don't go too nuts.
We went across the finger of Gallison... and I was far out in front of her to
make sure it was ok before she even got close to the edge... you can't even
really tell where the lake starts... we also walked across Vogelsang Lake a bit...
but far out away from the outlet itself. Emeric... no way... stayed well off that
baby.
