Too bad you couldn't light up the Christmas bulb by connecting it to the solar panel.

Yes, YES, YES!!

After the first taste of Cherry Creek (proper) in 2013, I went into West Fork and made a nice loop, all off-trail.

Hyatt Lake - spectacular! The route from Louse Canyon up and over to Hyatt is a granite paradise. Then overland to Big Lake, Yellowhammer - granite overload. Can't recommend this enough.

Note the that route finding up West Fork to Louse Canyon is not trivial. I found exactly one way through - after much searching.

In one week I'll be returning, heading down the North Fork (beginning at the Leavitt trailhead) through the Emigrant Lakes for the first time. Can't wait!

I can't find the words for this - but to be able to get out in this beauty is among the best of what I've seen in life

I guess we were lucky and had no problems navigating to Louse Canyon. Not to say it was trivial, and there was one section that required a classic "willow branch belay" maneuver, but even that had an easier alternative as we discovered later. In any event, all good stuff, for those who don't mind brush thrashing and friction granite moves...

Luckily, the guys (Basilbop and Chick-on) had already scouted the route on a previous trip, but my first time into Louse was after Broken Flipper Dome where I dislocated my shoulder. There was a place where the safest move for me required taking off my back pack to down climb a drop. And that was fun using only one arm. So, yah, I'd say NOT trivial is a good way to explain it. Brush thrashing and friction granite moves.. yah... Not trivial...
