Tenaya Canyon

Hi, Can anyone tell me conditions of the Tenaya Canyon hike (Tenaya to Valley)? Is there water? Has the hike been adversely affected by any rockfalls?
Thanks,
Janet

Here's a link to some photos: https://picasaweb.google.com/103089501068510688008/TenayaCanyon14

This is not a trivial hike and should be done the first time with someone who has done it previously.

Yes, I know it is not for novices. I have done it twice and abandoned it once (sprained ankle before we entered the canyon).
I wanted current conditions for now. I plan to hike it sometime this month if there is still water.
Thanks,
Janet

In October last year there was plenty of water in the pools even though there was none coming from the lake.

Thanks, that is helpful to know.
Was there a rockfall above the trail. Either this year or last. Any consequences for hiking the canyon?

You should call and talk to a ranger and find out the state yourself.
Mainly because there was indeed a rockfall in the canyon and I dunno
(and no one has posted) if the rap points are intact and if it was such that
getting around it is prohibitive without additional protection.
If I call or email I will post here... but time files and I dunno if I will do
the canyon this year or not.
As for water... water is never an issue in the canyon. There will be
pools of water... period.

Edit: Obviously ... imo ... right now the Tenaya Fire makes the hike a no go...
and .. also... the consequences are well documented... you could get stuck
in there and require a rescue... which is bad for everyone...
Be safe. Have fun.
