Mono Meadows Creek Crossing

Just to update what chick-on had mentioned a few weeks back, the tough creek crossing is still quite treacherous. I just got off the phone with a park ranger and he noted that hikers have had to turn around, and one pair spent a couple days on the other side of it in an effort to wait it out. And he said one guy tried crossing it using a rope.

Just to be clear on this...

The creek crossing is here:

In mid-June of 2011 (a VERY big snow year) ... we did a trip up to Ostrander / Hart and back around...
I spent a good deal of time looking for a crossing... which we then used the following morning...
It was a bunch of logs... here:

Waiting out a couple of days? Wow

What did with the wife last weekend near Young... was we just kept hiking upstream... until we
could safely and easily cross each creek... worse case we would have went back the way we came.
We had alot of time ... and had nowhere we HAD to be.

I would do the same with this particular crossing... just keep going upstream... to where it
forks... and forks...
of course you have to be happy and ok to xcountry... and be ok with plenty of shrub...
(fyi... 7468 area... is shrubville)

Be safe. Have fun
