Sorry... wrong park...

Looks like that is the Fallen Monarch in the Mariposa grove...
(you can't get there from here... until Summer of 2017)

My peekchure... is of The Buttress Tree in Sequoia NP.
It lost it's balance and fell over. At which point it made a boom.

It didn't turn into a puzzle tho... that was elsewhere.

It is indeed the Fallen Monarch. Didn't know you'd gone to Sequoia....but now that you mention it, the very top of the root structure is different...

I LOVE these before/after pictures! I knew it was higher, seemed a LOT higher, but the picture drives it home. I need references and my poor little brain doesn't recall those kinds of details that accurately!

Thanks oodles for sharing your time and energy on the trip! It was a BLAST!

Whoa is that Lake Kaweah?? That is a lot of water!

Have you guys just been day hiking SEKI? Or camping out there?

Yes, Lake Kaweah.

This past weekend was first backpack there this year. We spent earlier trips this fall/winter doing recon and day hikes.

Four days, 3 nights this trip! Details in our trip report, which will be soon, I hope!

Wow I gotta head back soon!

Looking forward to your trip report and all the eye candy! Considering doing Redwood Canyon for an overnighter. Would love to do other trails but I really only have time for one night sad smiley

Lake Kaweah Water Level

Looks like if you were there a day earlier (Jan 7) it would have been a even bigger jump. 13 ft in a day and 40 ft in a week. The reservoirs have seen some huge water level jumps this year. Pretty impressive.
