Despite some fog/smog down south in the Fresno area, by the time we were near the "Mountain View" exit in Turlock...


30x zoom, 65mph, windows up, JKW with a steady hand on the rudder

See if you can spot:

• Kuna/Koip Peaks/Crests
• Clouds Rest
• Fletcher and Vogelsang Peaks
• Parsons Peak
• Simmons Peak
• Mt. Florence
• Sentinel Rock
• The Glacier Point "water works" area
• Rodgers Peak
• Mt. Lyell
• Mt. Clark

And some "maybes"

• Mt. Starr King
• "Inspiration Ridge"
• Turner Ridge
• Quartzite Peak

That's all I can spot...

My apologies for appropriating and modifying.......... but is this Half Dome?

I've seen it once from Key's road outside of Turlock and it was hard to find because it looked way larger than I expected it to.

Also...... fantastic photo, especially at that zoom from a moving car.

I think I see Bigfoot behind that one house.

Thanks for the tip - I googled it, and and clicked on some of the links, and played in google earth with the gps coordinates that someone gave of the spot where the photo was taken, and saw the video you made...it's for real. Needs a clear day and a good zoom lens, but wow.

One can also see the top of El Capitan (and the continuation of the El Capitan ridge) right below Half Dome.

The conditions were not perfect, but since we were in the neighborhood...

Still amazing to me how BIG HD is in the pic!!!

Was fun!!!

But dang, my allergies.... fields of hay or whatever... yikes.....

I still cry foul (fowl ?). Perspective doesn't seem right.

The perspective is perfect. If you don't believe, go see it for yourself on a clear day.
