I took our 7 year old to Chilnualna Falls for 2 nights from 6/6- 6/8. The trail is dry to the top of the falls, and we saw no snow even in deep shade. There was very little mosquito activity, even in the morning and evening. For a midweek trip before all the schools are out, we expected and saw few other people. There were 2-3 groups camping in the area and maybe 8-10 day-hikers. There are a couple extra fire rings at sites that are probably a little close to the trail, but the area is in pretty good shape. We hiked about 1/2 mile up Chilnualna Creek, and it's impassable at this time. Most importantly, the 7 year old had a great experience, made some great observations, had a lot of questions, and asked the most important question: When do we get to go camping again?
