Current fire restrictions in campground fire pits?

Anyone know if fires are currently allowed inside designated campground fire pits?

The following are not allowed:

• Wood and charcoal fires (including twig stoves) with no exceptions.
• Smoking anywhere in the park, except is it allowed:
  
  • within an enclosed vehicle;
  • designated frontcountry campgrounds and picnic areas that are open and where wood or charcoal fires are allowed;
  • designated smoking areas;
  • while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or has been cleared of flammable material.

I may be reading it wrong, but I think fires are allowed in frontcountry campground fire pits.

That page says that current restrictions are in effect below 8,000 feet, which specify

Had a great weekend in Yosemite. Checked in to Hodgdon a little after noon; the camp host informed us they were allowing campfires at the time in our fire rings as long as we kept the fires small (at a reasonable amount, nothing crazy) and the wood had to fit inside the pit (nothing hanging out over the side of the ring). Visited Tuolumne, beautiful weather about 75 degrees, clear blue skies and sunshine. Road work operations were halted for Saturday - maybe because it was a weekend, so we didn't have any road work delays on Saturdays visited Tenaya lake, nice cool blue water and amazing scenery. After relaxing at Tenaya lake Tuolumne was the next stop, spending time at Lembert Dome (parking lot was open) and then on to the soda spring trail head (parking lot was open but had road work equipment parked in it so it may be closed on the days roadwork is in progress?). Enjoyed the rest of the evening back at camp and the next day in the valley and wawona
