Last year, I planned on spending one night at the Mosquito Flat Backpacker Campground. When I drove up there, all of the campsites were unoccupied, but I decided not to camp there after reading an "active bear" notice that someone had left on the trailhead sign. I don't remember seeing any bear lockers at the campsites, just one at the parking lot that was some distance away. My guess is that the campers were cooking and eating next to their tents and storing their bear canisters at their campsites.
The next morning at the trailhead, I was surprised to find the Backpackers Camp packed, maybe by a group from the Marine Corps, a bunch of rowdy and gung-ho guys and gals.
