The John Muir Trail passes through some of the Sierra's most spectacular scenery: beginning in Yosemite Valley and ending at Mt Whitney, hiking the JMT is one of the greatest backpacking trips in North America, if not the world. Altogether, the hike takes most people around three weeks and given the time commitment, some hikers may find it easier to do individual sections of the trail. While every portion of the JMT is beautiful by almost any standards, the hike through Evolution Valley and Evolution Basin in Kings Canyon National Park is possibly one of the best along the entire route.
