2 of us are hiking JMT from Tuolumne Meadows to Happy Isles / valley over 3 days 29 Sept to 1 Oct.
The shuttle bus has stopped operating so we are trying to decide whether to leave the car at T.M. and try for a lift back after OR leave car in the valley and get a lift to T.M. to start.
Anyone have any suggestions re: lift / hitchhiking etc. and which is the best place to leave car - begining or end.

Anything appreciated.

I would leave the car at the bottom and hike back to it. If you are late, early, or a freak snowstorm blows into the pass, you won't be stranded. Unless you arrange a ride, it's probably going to take a while to hitchhike.

Howz about just hike back to your car. Just loopy back up Echo Creek after coming down from Sunrise Mtn.
Or Skip that section entirely (Crest of Sunrise Mtn to Forsyth Trail kinda ... not that great)
Go to Sunrise HSC. Dayhike to Sunrise Lakes ... Hike back out.

(eye 4 one not too keen on shuttle trips)
