Public Meeting Scheduled To Discuss Forest Road Repair Work
Porterville, CA., November 25, 2009...Forest officials are proposing to repair and improve forest roads Deer Creek Mill (FS23S04) and Last Chance (FS22S02) both located on the Western Divide Ranger District in Giant Sequoia National Monument, Sequoia National Forest.
The purpose of this project is to provide safe access for forest visitors and reduce sediment delivery and its impact to water resources. The project will maintain and improve public access by repairing damage, adding aggregate surfacing, cleaning culverts, reconditioning the roadways, and "storm proofing" the road drains to minimize future damage. Portions of the Deer Creek Mill road will be suitable for passenger vehicles, and will be open to highway legal vehicles only.
Please join us for a public meeting at the Hot Springs Community Center, 41810 Hot Springs Road, on Wednesday December 9th starting at 6:00 p.m., to learn more about the proposed project and discuss any questions or concerns.
