OK, here's another Yosemite name I've said many times myself but never heard pronounced.

WAP-am-a or Wa-PAM-a?

I've always heard it and said it as wha-PA-ma.

If pronounced in Spanish, given that there is no accent shown, then the penultimate syllable is the one stressed-so waPAma.

I bring up Spanish in case the native word was first written by them in the Roman alphabet.

What did I just say? Have you studied the use of your GPS yet?

Thanks mrcondron. Hmmm. I wonder who qualifies as the "old dude" on this forum?

Official old dude Status: You qualify for the $10 Lifetime old dude National Park Pass!

Please note the edit of changing the LARGE "O" and "D" in Old Dude to lower case letters. Mike has informed me that since he is the only "officially named" Old Dude, that he is the only one who is allowed to use the moniker with caps

Mike and I do not produce pizzas, just the pass. Pizza is for eating, not giving away.

Last year I purchased the Olde Dude pass, lost it somewhere and bought another one. Since then the first pass resurfaced. Now there are two of me so I don't have to hike alone.grinning smiley

Since you found the lost pass you no longer qualify for Old Dude. You're just an old dude. Old Dudes wouldn't even know it was lost in the first place. It's like Maurice said, "Oh, have I been here already?"

Thank you, Mike. I feel much better now.
