...Much cooler and breezy today through thursday...

An approaching upper level low pressure area will move onto the
West coast today...Then inland tonight. This low will usher in
Much cooler air than that of the past several days. High
Temperatures in the san joaquin valley and high deserts of kern
County will fall 10 to 15 degrees by thursday. In the southern
Sierra nevada...Temperatures will fall some 20 degrees or more.

While the area of low pressure will not have much moisture with
It...There will be enough for some scattered light precipitation
In the southern sierra nevada near yosemite this afternoon...Then
Spreading south into the tulare county mountains tonight. Isolated
Thunderstorms also will be possible...Especially this evening.
Some light snow accumulations of an inch or two could occur over
The higher peaks and along the crest...However these amounts will
Be rather spotty. In general the snow level will be at or above 10
Thousand feet...But may lower to 8 or 9 thousand feet toward
Daybreak thursday.

Winds may become gusty at times through and below the passes in
The kern county mountains and deserts...With gusts up to 45 mph
This afternoon and continuing tonight. Gusts up to 55 mph will be
Possible in the area below the tehachapi pass to near mojave...But
Widespread strong wind gusts are not anticipated.

In the central and southern san joaquin valley...Northwest to
North winds up to 20 mph along the west side may raise areas of
Blowing dust near recently tilled or plowed fields. Drivers on
The west side of the valley...Including interstate 5...Should be
Alert for rapid reductions in visibility when encountering blowing
Dust.

Dry weather with a gradual warming trend will return for friday
And into the weekend.
