Clovis, CA (February 12, 2011)...The Sierra National Forest is conducting an underburn on the Pinegrove Underburn project for approx 124 acres (Unit to the north of Rd 8S27) beginning Monday Feb 14 and 15 with ignition beginning at 9 am on Feb. 14 and ending in the late afternoon hours Feb. 15. This is a low intensity underburn with most of the burning being accomplished by a backing type fire that will burn slower and consume more dead and down fuels in the process. Smoke from this burn will be visable from some valley locations and from the High Sierra Ranger District. Public access to view the burn will be limited to areas along Forest road 4S81 due to seasonal road closures in and around the area.
