How to find a live ranger on the phone?

Hi,

I hope to call through to a live person, presumably a ranger, who can give me up-to-date conditions on a specific trail. (Pate Valley to TM.)

What's the best phone number to use?

I've called various Yosemite numbers often, and can't recall ever getting a live person!

(it worked for me when I called in mid winter last year)

Hi Lisa,

I just called the # listed on my backcountry permit: "Questions/Cancellations: Call (209) 372-0740, 9:00 a.m. - 4 p.m."

I'm not sure if it was a ranger, but they had some pretty current/detailed information on trail conditions for me
