At 5 p.m., this evening, the sheriff's office ordered a mandatory evacuation for the government housing area in Rancheria and the trailer court. An evacuation center has been opened at the Red Cross Center/Luthern Church in Mariposa. An estimated time for re-entry has not been established. All evacuated employees are granted administrative leave.
This mandatory evacuation order was placed because the fire recently moved into Moss Canyon. The evacuation will allow fire crews and air operations to work in this drainage and attempt to keep the fire from moving any farther east.
