...Colder and windy weather friday through the weekend...
A storm dropping south from the gulf of alaska will bring much
Cooler temperatures and periods of gusty winds to the central
California interior.
The storm will have two components. The first will arrive
Friday...Bringing a cold airmass to the region. San joaquin valley
Highs friday will only be in the 50s...10 degrees colder than
Thursday. Rain and mountain snow will move into merced and mariposa
Counties late thursday night...Then slowly move south during the
Day friday. As the cold front drops south...It will be accompanied
By gusty northwest winds over the west side of the san joaquin
Valley...As well as through and below the passes of the kern county
Mountains.
Saturday will be mostly dry...But the second component of the storm
Will bring another round of rain and mountain snow to parts of the

* snow accumulations: 1-3 inches.
* elevation: above 8000 feet.
* timing: light snow showers are expected tonight then followed
By some snow accumulation through the day tomorrow.
* locations include: yosemite national park and tioga pass.
* winds: late tonight westerly winds of 30 mph sustained with
Gusts up to 45 mph. Winds begin to strengthen early tomorrow
Morning with westerly winds of 35-40 mph with gusts to above 50 mph.
* impacts: blowing snow will reduce visibilities causing hazardous

Hang on to your hats and steering wheels today, if going over Tioga Pass. I was up in Tuolumne yesterday and it was WINDY! Gusty, with occassional blowing snow across the highway (from current snowpack) and very crazy and dusty gusts in the Blue Slide area. Can't imagine what it will be like today.
