Fire Restrictions to be Lifted
Release Date: Sep 13, 2012 Bishop, CA
Contact(s): Nancy Upham

Officials from the Inyo National Forest and Bishop Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced today that Eastern Sierra fire restrictions put into place on June 20 of this year, will be rescinded tomorrow, Friday September 14, at 12:01 A.M.

Recent seasonal changes in the fuel moisture, combined with increased humidity and cooler night time temperatures have prompted the lifting of fire restrictions throughout the Inyo National Forest, including other national forest lands administered by the Inyo, and all public lands administered by the BLM Bishop Field Office.

At this time the land management agencies are comfortable lifting the fire restrictions, however they would like to remind the public that when recreating outdoors to please continue to use caution in order to decrease the chance of human-caused fires and avoid resource and property damage.

For further information please call Debra Hein, Inyo National Forest and BLM Bishop Field Office, at (760) 872-5057.
