District Ranger Margaret Wood has announced that the new Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center has closed for the season due to the impending winter storm. The prolonged fall season weather has allowed for local and out-of-area visitors to enjoy the new visitor center that opened on September 1. Weather forecasts are predicting very low temperatures and snow so the decision has been made to close the visitor center, located at 10,000 feet, for the winter. The Schulman Grove area will remain open allowing access to trails, exterior exhibits, restrooms and the parking area.

The White Mountain Road, along with Silver and Wyman Canyon Roads, will remain open at least for the remainder of hunting season.

Additional information on the White Mountain roads can be obtained by calling the White Mountain Ranger Station at 760-873-2500.
