Fall colors are fading and winter is right around the corner, but bears are still active! In the past four days there have been four bear incidents, and numerous active bears in Yosemite Valley. Bears hibernate based on food availability, not weather. This means that not all bears hibernate every winter. In Yosemite Valley it is fairly common to have a few active bears year round. Please remember to keep all trash and recycling indoors or throw it away in a bear proof dumpster or recycling container, clip dumpsters, remove food and attractants from unsecured buildings where it may be easily accessible to a bear (this includes sheds and some garages), and keep your vehicles clean.

You have that to look forward to every day of the year in Yosemite... and it has been so for too many years.
