Former Employee Pleads Guilty To Theft Of Government Funds
Mary Alice Walk, 61, of Midpines, pleaded guilty on February 4th to theft of government property from the park. The case was investigated by Investigative Services Branch special agents and prosecuted by assistant U.S. attorneys from the Eastern District of California. According to documents filed in the case, Walk was employed by Yosemite National Park between October 2008 and June 2009. During that time, she charged $32,820 in personal expenses to government credit cards that had been issued to her for making official government purchases. Walk’s sentencing hearing will be held on April 15th. She faces a maximum sentence of ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
