A new species is lurking in the waters of Lake Tahoe - the beloved goldfish. The warm water fish, commonly raised as pets, are invading the pristine lake, taking food and space from native species. And, they're also growing to be quite large.

Bad, but not near as bad as the piranha variant that was found in a creek near Merced a number of years ago.

The fish that I am referring to was mentioned briefly in "The Merced Sun-Star" and was believed to be a solitary find. I also heard a rumor of a small alligator in a Chowchilla area slough, but I was never able to confirm that one.
