Four mile trail opening

For the last couple of years I have been doing 4 mile to Panaroma trail round trip in spring. This year I would like to do it as soon as 4 mile is open. What is the best way to get informed on when the trail opens? Is there a number to call, website to look at? Calling park service did not help me much, they do not have any info on trail conditions.

Is it safe to hike 4 mile in first week of May, even if it is not officially opened. I remember seeing a gate towards the top of the trail, do they lock it for off-season?

I think it should be open by the first weekend of May.

GP and Tioga Roads will follow shortly. Can't wait!

Was it closed the entire winter? The fellow stationed at 120 entrance told me it was open to the top in Feb. Was probably mistaken, huh?
