Nothing will put them back, but the glyphs have been recovered. No info on how or who yet, but hopefully this means they will find the responsible #@#%$.

Great news...hopefully they catch and convict the guys who did it...but I would guess that the "fines and prison sentence" are not nearly harsh enough for what was done.

It wouldn't be all that hard to put them back. Just take some of the same rock from another place, grind it up and mix it with some kind of binder, then glue the piece back in. If done right you won't even see a seam.

Terrific news. The fact that they were "returned" means someone might have stepped up and did the right thing.

Great news. Now let's find the idiots who did this and

1. Make them pay to restore the site.
2. Nail them to the wall so that they can keep an eye on them in the future.

avatar BLM still deciding future of recovered ancient artifacts

The investigation into the theft of six priceless artifacts chiseled from the rocks of a local petroglyph site continues, as the pieces of ancient artwork sit in evidence storage at the Bureau of Land Management. BLM Field Manager Bernadette Lovato said last week that no official plans have been made for the six petroglyph panels that were stolen late last year and anonymously returned in late January.
