The Inyo National Forest removed the Silver Lake Boat Dock on July 16, 2013.
The boat dock on this popular recreation lake was no longer safe or functional. The dock was not attached to its anchor block, the float material located in the concrete cells was gone, and the dock no longer floated as designed. For these reasons, engineering staff from the forest removed the dock. The launch ramp is still in place.
The forest is working with the California Department of Boating to replace the dock. However, there is currently no plan or funding in place for this project. Recreationists at Silver Lake should plan their activities accordingly.
