USFS managed campgrounds are closed or are being closed. Concession managed campgrounds on forest service land will close in the next 48 hours. Dispersed camping, however, is still allowed. Developed day use areas are closed. Trails are open to day use, however there is no overnight use or hiking allowed where a permit is required (e.g. Mt Whitney).

I believe that they are going to block the Portal Road, also.

Can they? That's a county road.

Do you mean Incline Road or El Portal Road or Foresta Road? I don't think they can block, or close, either of those roads. People live on either of those roads.

Incline Road is the one that parallels 140 and ends/begins at the Foresta Bridge. Foresta Road is the one from that bridge to the "town" of El Portal. El Portal Road is the short road that goes from 140 to Foresta Road by the post office.

A friend called to check the status of the roads in the area; the portal road is still open, however, the person said that the status of the road was in flux due to exactly what you state "county road running on Federal land"
