Hetch Hetchy Road Utility Repair and Traffic Delay

The Hetch Hetchy Road reopened to visitor traffic last Saturday October 19th. All backcountry areas accessed from the trailheads along the Hetch Hetchy Road and O'Shaughnessy Dam will remain closed until further notice due to impacts from the Rim Fire. Hetch Hetchy Water and Power and AT&T will be conducting utility repair operations along the roadway for the next couple of months to repair fire damaged electrical and communication infrastructure. Visitors should expect single lane closures, and at times full closures, of the road as the utility repair is undertaken. Please drive slowly along the road and watch out for construction workers and stopped vehicles.
