Post Rim Fire camping options outside BOF entrance
March 12, 2014 10:56PM
I'm heading up this Friday evening for the first time since the Rim Fire (yikes, how has it been that long?!).

I had a few regular spots off of Hwy 120 / Evergreen road for quiet Friday nights. Has anyone been in that area recently? What can I expect? Is it still a viable option or should I look elsewhere?

Thanks.

Hey edg -

I sent you a PM. Available options are very limited. With an early spring, they will get crowded.

I'm happy to share what I know but I'd rather keep it to PM.

The Pines Campground has been open all year, really nice, just before Buck Meadows.

Was through there a few weeks ago and it seems everything is closed in the area. Every side road had a sign saying it was closed so it doesn't look like there are very many options.

If I was driving in right now... and was a "sleep in my car" kinda guy...
I'd just drive into Buck Meadows Restaurant parking lot... and nighty nighty.

Restaurant has been closed for awhile... doubt it suddenly opened.... it's still winter
