Mosquito Fire – Wawona Road

A road side fire was reported by visitors to Yosemite ECC yesterday at approximately 12:30 PM. The fire was along the Wawona Road near Alder Creek. A quick response by Yosemite Fire engines and crews, Helicopter 551 and Wawona area rangers kept the fire to less than a half-acre, and minimized traffic delays. The cause is being investigated. It is another reminder of how dry it is and the high potential for fire during the third year of drought.
