- Press release from Mono County Sheriff’s Office:

On the afternoon of Monday, July 28th, 2014, at approximately 12:30pm, Mono County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call regarding two stranded hikers in the Lundy Canyon area.

To access a family mining claim on steep and rocky slopes above Mill Creek, two brothers, from Utah and Nevada, climbed up the canyon with backpacks and tools. They became stranded in rainy weather on a steep slope and were unable to go up or down safely. They were able to talk to family members with a family radio transceiver to alert them they were stranded and needed help. The family members drove down to the U.S. Forest Service Fire Station to call for help.
