Ecological restoration of the banks of the Merced River at Lower Pines Campground will begin September 8th and continue for several weeks. This project will stabilize three sites along the river bank that have eroded as a result of fallen trees, trampling and loss of vegetation. Soil and willow cuttings will be used to fill in the erosion and stabilize these sites. Hand crews, an excavator and dump trucks will be used. The stabilization of these sites will reduce scouring and further cutting away of the riverbank. Visitor access to the river will be located down river in the campground.
