August 4 Fire Update

Currently the most active and visible fire is the Dark, between the Yosemite Creek Campground and Tioga Roads. Smoke may be seen It is at 4+ acres and moving to the east. The Lukens trail from Tioga Road south to the Yosemite Creek Campground Road is temporarily closed. The Indian Canyon and Middle fire may periodically put smoke into the atmosphere. Other remote and high elevation fires that may be visible are in Tuolumne Meadows: The Cathedral, near the John Muir Trail to Cathedral Lakes, and White Castle fires, near Glen Aulin HSC.

Willow Fire Update: Sierra National Forest –The smoky and hazy conditions over Yosemite National Park have diminished over the weekend. Smoke may occasionally be seen from the Willow Fire burning near Base Lake. The fire began on Saturday July 25 in the afternoon and is approximately 25 miles southwest of the park. There are over 16 large fires throughout California. The air quality, especially in the Central Valley, may be affected. Most of the fires are in Northern California.
