Temporary Closures at Tamarack Flat Campground and Glacier Point Road at Chinquapin

Out of an abundance of caution, official from the Centers for Disease Control, NPS Office of Public Health, and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) recommend treatment of rodent burrows with Deltamethrin to reduce the flea population at Tamarack Flat Campground and at Glacier Point. Both areas are subject to closure to allow crews to complete the work as follows.

• Tamarack Flat Campground will close from noon today until noon on Friday.
• The road to Glacier Point will be closed to the public at Chinquapin from midnight tonight until Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
• The Four-Mile Trail will close at 9:00 p.m. tonight. The section of the Panoramic Trail to Glacier Point from Illiluette Creek will be closed from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.
• Campers staying at Bridalveil Creek Campground WILL be allowed access to the road.

Deltamethrin is the flea treatment used at Crane Flat and Tuolumne Meadows campgrounds earlier this month. Treating the rodent burrows for fleas reduces the risk of human and wildlife exposure to plague.
