A moist pacific storm system will impact central ca thursday
Through friday. This storm system will tap into subtropical
Moisture bringing a threat of widespread precipitation across the
Region. Rain could be heavy at times along the sierra foothills
And lower elevations of the sierra. Heavy snow will be probable
Over the sierra high country.
Potential precipitation amounts through friday:
0.5 inch to one inch in the san joaquin valley. One to two inches
Along the sierra foothills. One to four inches in the southern
Sierra. 0.5 to 1.5 inches in the tehachapi mountains.
Flooding problems could develop in the foothills and lower
Elevations of the sierra...Including possible rock slides and mud
Slides near any burn areas.
The forecast for the merced river at pohono bridge shows the
River rising just above flood stage on thursday night...Possibly
Causing minor flooding around yosemite park. Smaller creeks and
Streams could see sudden rises and flooding. In the san joaquin
Valley...Urbanized street flooding will be possible...In areas
Aggravated by poor drainage due to leaves and other debris.
