Due to the recent rise in temperatures, creeks, streams and rivers
along the eastern Sierra Slopes and Owens Valley of Inyo County
are running at their highest levels this runoff season. With warm
temperatures forecast through Thursday creeks, streams and rivers
will continue to run high through at least Friday.

The forecast calls for cooler temperatures Friday through next
weekend which will bring a decrease in snowmelt and runoff.

Creeks and other waterways will be running fast with very cold
water. Extra caution should be exercised as exhaustion or
unconsciousness from hypothermia could set in within 30 minutes
from water temperatures between 33 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Always wear a properly fitted life jacket for all water
activities.

Minor flooding could occur near creeks as well as a few low water
crossings on some roadways. Also, pastureland or farmland
adjacent to creeks, streams or rivers could experience areas of
standing water.
