Awesome photo. My guess about the place: some of the rocks lining the south part of the valley wall, about a mile west of the trailhead for the four mile trail - down below Taft point, although not quite as far west, but above one of the gulleys below Taft.
I think so. Play with Google Earth and see what you find...or go to the valley and try it . It also fits with his description about the area being one (a) requiring some climbing skills and (b) being prone to rockfall, which is why he won't disclose it himself.
