Fire may cause evacuation of Wawona

Wawona residents and visitors should GET SET and prepare their home and family for the possibility of having to evacuate due to the Creek Fire burning on the Sierra National Forest. Wawona Community Meeting: The National Park Service will host a community meeting on Tuesday, September 8, at 6:00 pm, at the Wawona Community Center. This will be an informational meeting to discuss the park's planning and response efforts in relation to the Creek Fire, to include community protection and potential evacuation. In consideration of COVID-19 protocols, the meeting will take place outdoors and attendees are asked to wear a face covering. Wawona is under a fire advisory and residents are reminded that they should be making preparations for a potential evacuation.
