...Very Warm Daytime Temperatures and Dry Conditions through
Labor Day Weekend...

* High temperatures in mountain communities near or above 90
degrees, with some record highs, are likely this holiday
weekend. With fewer homes having air conditioning available,
heat impacts could be more noticeable during the afternoon.

* Since this is a holiday weekend, many people will be outdoors
participating in recreation activities which could increase
risk of heat health impacts, especially on lakes where shade is
not available. Be sure to keep hydrated, use sunscreen and wear
protective clothing. Smoke and haze could also contribute to
additional concerns for those sensitive to heat or reductions in
air quality.

* It would be a good idea to have some indoor, morning, or evening
"Plan B" activities in mind. Temperatures will cool off
substantially each night, so the best way to avoid the heat is
to schedule more strenuous activities away from the afternoon
hours.

* Remember that conditions will be very dry, and by Monday
afternoon some increase in winds is expected. Avoid any
activities that could produce an increased fire risk, and follow
all area restrictions for campfires and use of outdoor grills.
