When Bob Roney first came to California's Yosemite National Park as a high school senior in 1967, he didn't know what to expect. But after spending less than 24 hours among the ancient sequoia trees, he felt changed.

Ranger Bob is a great guy. I remember visiting a couple of his programs in Feb 2007. The first was a nighttime "anything goes" talk called "Ask Ranger Bob" at Yosemite Lodge (I forgot the name of the room). The next day I attended a walk in the Valley and he also led it. I figured that would be the last I would see of him, so I headed back to Mariposa where I was going to order a pizza and watch the Oscars from my motel room. So I'm waiting and then Ranger Bob (out of uniform) says hi to me. I guess even park rangers have to eat.
