Fire Update # 28 - August 5, 2009

The lightning caused Wildcat fire, managed for multiple objectives, is now at approximately 700 acres. It is burning on the north and south sides of the Tuolumne River through Red Fir, Jeffery Pine and brush on very steep terrain. Firefighters continue to experience low to moderate fire spread as the fire has moved up the canyon walls through brush and other vegetation.

Trail closures are in effect: The Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne from Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp to Pate Valley.

The lastest MODIS map shows no active burning at the Wildcat fire. Maybe the trail will open soon?
