Interesting historical descriptons of many classic Yosemite Trails.
The following digital version of Guide to Yosemite apparently recently scanned and available at:

I LOVE the days required.

And... of course, just like Togos, #9 is de-lish-e-us.
Who woulda think that there was a trail THERE? (and lightly-used at that!)

From that 1920 publication:
http://www.yosemite.ca.us/library/guide_to_yosemite/yosemite_trails.html
Check out some interesting details on trips:
Trip 5 mentions "Tenaya Lake Lodge" I wonder where that was located

Trip 11 is 31 miles and it is suggested that distance can be covered in 12 hours (that is pretty impressive)

Trip 12 is Sierra Point hike

Trip 15 discusses the Ledge Trail

It was located on the shore on Tenaya Lake. (Duh!)

Yes,but but but--- swampy southwest end, or east near current picnic area, or shore along old road between May Lake trail head and Tenaya??? I an always intrigued by finding the remains of these old developments and intrested in trying to imagine what it was like when they were in use.

I think it was on the swampy end. But I don't know where I read that.

According to the old maps it was S of the creek and E of Tenaya Lake.
On one of the maps it even says "Gas - Oils".

Notice the Camp Curry fees for showers and baths. And we still complain about this today?

I wonder if one or the other of these is the location of current Camp 4?

But was it a High Sierra Camp?

There was a very early HSC at Tenaya Lake--among other places no longer used. Google history of the HSC. Mark

I stole a map from somewhere. It sorta shows the locale:
http://picasaweb.google.com/dale.dekeyser/Maps#5331721600397486898

Have never seen a sign for Tenaya HSC. TM HSC... now that's another story.
(can still find a metal sign or two with it one)

The description from above "Tuolumne Soda Springs Camp — Sleeping quarters in can-
vas bungalows. Per day, American plan, $4." suggests that there may have been a camp near Soda Springs as opposed to the current TM HSC location.

The map I pointed to is one of my faves. 1919.
Not only does it tell you which way is East Busy Bee,
but it also has a number of no longer existent trails like:
-The Vaunted Goat Gulch Venue (Poopenaut up toward Eleanor)
-Slide Canyon thru to Smedberg
-Alkali Creek trail
-Table Mountain trail
-Clark Range trail (Illilouette past S. of Starr King)

re. Soda Can Lodge - ... The Sierra Club actually owned some property near Soda Springs.
Parsons Lodge is still there now.
