Foresta Residents and Homeowner Re- Entry
Date: September 3, 2009

The evacuation order for the community of Foresta will be lifted at 10:00 AM Friday, September 4, 2009. Residents and property owners with proof of residency or ownership will be allowed unrestricted access to private property and unburned areas in the immediate vicinity of Foresta.

By order of the Superintendent as provided in 36 CFR 1.5, the burned area of the Big Meadow Fire remains closed to the public. This closure is necessary to protect the public from significant snag hazards, burning logs and stump holes, and hazards typical of recently burned areas. In Foresta this closure directly affects the Old Coulterville Road, Davis Cutoff Road, Foresta Road west of Foresta proper, and the Flying Spur Ranch. Any unauthorized person entering the closed area is subject to citation.

Residents and owners can travel to Foresta via the Big Oak Flat Road from its junction with the El Portal Road, and via the Foresta Road from its junction with the Big Oak Flat Road. These segments of the road are the only areas within the fire perimeter that can be accessed by Foresta residents and property owners.

PG&E will be in the area to assist residents with electrical power issues. Various utility providers and contractors will also be repairing infrastructure in the area.

The Big Oak Flat Road remains closed to the general public from Crane Flat to the El Portal Road.
