I've been trying to figure out where that photo was taken but don't have a clue. I'm sure it's nowhere I''ve been because I have no photos of rock that looks like that behind a lake. Maybe in the Hetch Hetchy area!

Never would have guessed which lake that was. It is so far off the beaten path I doubt one in a thousand Yosemite backpackers have ever seen it.

No, doesn't appear so.
The following quote is from paragraph six under History/Foundations from the Wikipedia entry for Desert Center California:
